i found 3 cracks in the aluminum above the oil fill cap not happy not happy at all

Are the cracks in the crankcase area, or the clutch cover only? If it is only n the clutch cover, that is not to difficult to find a replacement for.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

Yep, I've had to replace a shifter cover and an oil pan due to metal fatigue cracks. That clutch cover is a dime a dozen and they're cheap on eBay. There has to be at least 40 of 'em listed right now starting at $10. Probably an easy weld also if you have a buddy thats good with the MIG. Probably easier to just buy a new one.'79 XS11 F
