  • 1st of 2 79 Specials finished

Just wanted to take a moment and let you all know how much I've appreciated all of your guidance and expertise on this bike. Not to mention parts resources. You all made this rebuild possible for me.

I wish I would have taken more pics when I drug these out of a barn a little over a year ago. It's not really a restore so much as a functional refresh. This one stayed fairly stock accept for the handlebars..... Total bill including the bike .... about 750.00

    After:

The entire album can be seen here including a short video of Diana (yep that's her name) running. Still have some tuning to do but not bad for sitting since 1989 ....

    Wooo-hooooo

Very nice man!! Beautiful bike. I bought my SF for $750 running two years ago and it looks (looked) like that except for a 4-1. Are those GP handle bars or superbike bars....I went with the superbike bars. Much better than ramshorn bars!

Thanks man!!! I'm very pleased with it.

They're the GP bars. I don't really have a preference between the two it just happened to be what I had around in bars with just a little rise. Aethetically they just looked right to me and the position fits me well.

That looks exactly like the exhaust on Banshee. Is that a kerker system? Mine says Kerker on one of the muffler sections.

Hmmm ... you know .. I have NO idea. I thought those were the stock pipes. Doesn't say Kerker on them anywhere and they seem fairly tame sounding for aftermarket performance but .... maybe????????

The headers look exactly like the stock ones on both yours and mine. The mufflers are not stock. For the specials, they had megaphone style mufflers that tapered back down right at the end. End was closed in with one pipe about 1" maybe out in the center.

I honestly have never heard of a Kerker 4-2 before and still wonder if mine is just stockeheaders with Kerker mufflers grafted on.
