Cheap floating rotor and killer calipers (for the slackers)

I can't believe that no one has posted this yet. For those that don't browse the UK forum, there is a very easy mod to go to cheap floating rotors and even some cool aftermarket rotors. I would have posted sooner, but not until I bought MY parts.
Old TX and RD rotor centers will mount other Yamaha floating outers. The addititional offset facilitates mounting modern calipers, too.

Interesting... so what are you using exactly, the TX rotor centers? I would love to have floating rotors and better calipers on my front when I do the FJ fork mod...

I picked up a set of 70's RD rotors for $40 to the door. I never did see any of the ones like THESE, though.

What are you using for calipers? One issue is the XS rotors seem to be rather thick compared to what's used on newer bikes.

I am a long ways from ANY of this. This is more of an FYI than it is about my project. I still need to do a front end swap of some kind because I have the dumb special forks with the wierd swivle bolt on caliper mount. And, the free FJ front end has yet to show up. It would be an easy mod on standard forks. When the time comes, I will probably put on some R1's but

I stand corrected. Some new info on the UK forum says that the RD/TX center creates a little too much off set to fit in the standard forks.

For someone with a lathe, turning up such a center carrier shouldn't be all that hard. If I had the space to put one, I'd talk SWMBO into letting me get a lathe.

Now for those that would like the same with less effort. Honda CBR600 rotors up to 2000 have the same offset but the diameter is a couple mm shy. The center hole has to be machined out a couple mm and then drill new holes and you have rotors that are about 1/3 the weight.

I bought a couple rotors to do this with but the SOB on eBay that sold them to me lied and sold me bent rotors. I had to get eBay involved but I got most of my money back... I've been too bummed about this to try again right now. I have one good 1999 CBR rotor that I traded out of a local bike shop but I need to get a match for it before I try again.

for the sport 5K7 model (RH in Aus ) EBC rotors bolt straight on as do Harrison billet calipers , no carriers needed . originally made for the RD350 LC , work brilliantly , easy to do , wouldnt say it was a cheap fix though .

I already have the rotors, Harrison lists for the XS1100S, I have a standard. I didnt see any listed for the RD350LC? Any idea which ones would bolt up?

And am I correct in that they would be L452 for the pair? UK sites always confuse me

@elevener .... HHmmmm ...... looks like it may only to the 1100S model
the LC 350 i believe lists the calipers as items 173 LH & 073RH and lsits the 1100s as the same item . may not apply to the standard sorrry guys if i led u on a bum steer .
