  • Piston Question

The P.O. told me that that he thought the original pistons were in the bike, but he was not the original buyer. I have it all torn down and was cleaning a piston and saw 2H703 was on all of them. Does this mean oversize #3 ??
Also they have a 2 or 3 with alittle hat over the top and some of them have a "L" all on the inside of the skirt. Can I tell without a micrometer if these are the orginal pistons?? Thanks Guys.

I believe that OEM 2H7--- pistons are standards, and OEM oversizes are stamped 2H9---, but I may be wrong. Measuring them may be the only way to know for sure if you dont have a complete part number. The start at 71.46mm for standards, 71.75 for 1st over, 72.00 for second and 72.50 for 3rd.

ive got no idea what the numbers relate too,
but i checked some i have
out of the engine and there stamped
2h704, there out of an 81 tho.

out of curiosity i measured the piston,
with over a 130,000ks ive measured it at
70.90mm and its out of round by .02mm.
