I dont understand how to adjust the clutch?

Yes, Ive read the manual. Im not talking about adjusting the cable. I need help adjusting the clutch. I really dont even know if it can be adjusted. I found something on line saying it could be done, but I just dont get what its saying. Something about turning the center screw? I dont know.

There are two places to adjust the clutch cable, one at each end. There is a tech tip on it. On the clutch pan there are two phillips head screws that remove the center cover. Thats where you will find the center screw their talking about.

side question

Just another thought. My clutch is really hard to pull. It actually cramps my hand at times. Ive lubed the cable. Is it just the cable that causes a hard pull, or can a clutch adjustment help this too?

If your cable has a hard curve on it or pinch point it might be very hard to pull. The other cause could be if the clutch springs were replaced with some very heavy duty springs. They can make it VERY hard to pull till you get used to it.

I dont know the history of the bike, but going with the first thought.

The more you ride, the stronger your left hand will become! They are definitely tough to pull, and can cramp your hand after a while. They don't have the hydraulic assistance of the newer bikes.

Unhook the cable from either the hand lever or or the lever in the cover. the cable itself should be fairly easily slid back and forth within the sheathing.

If it seems OK then the clutch probably has heavy duty springs...........a good thing.

Hi 'punch,
it's no lightweight but it shouldn't give you hand cramps.
My clutch effort was cut in half by re-routing the cable from it's stock path with all the sharp bends in it to keep the cable neatly hidden to one smooth free-air swoop from the lever to the housing.
OK, it looks a bit quaint that way but it beats getting carpal tunnel syndrome.
