  • squirral,hound and carb parts

Ever had one of those weeks when you know you shouldn't get out of bed. Well to make this short, nice hot day today so I opened the workshop overhead door , laid out my egg crates with my carb parts and started into the third and final cleaning. Dog doesn't like squirrals cuz she can never catch one. Well today apparently she got one cut off from the tree's and my shop door was the only chance for survival. Well I won't go into to the details but lets just say that the egg crates with the carb parts got nicely scattered across the floor and are now all mixed together. My question is reguarding the tubes. I have two with four holes and two with 2/3 hole combo's. Which go where? BTW squirral is safe.

The ones with the most holes go to #s 1 & 4, fewer holes go to #s 2 & 4 as I understand it.

Not sure how many times I've had 79 carbs apart and I don't remember where they go either but, more holes should mean more flow, which should go to the middle set of carbs... Middle cylinders run a little hotter and higher flow would cool em a little.

I though more holes meant more AIR. That is what they are there for, not fuel.

You want more fuel to the 2&3 cyls to keep them cooler.

1+4, more holes. 2+3 less holes. The holes are for air, not fuel. The more holes, the leaner, the less holes, the richer.

This thread states that the two inners should have the markings 301 X-2, and the outers should have the markings 266 X-2. Markings will be on the barrel below the notch.
