  • How do you route your fuel lines??

It seems no matter how I route my fuel lines I get kinks in them and it restricts fuel flow. Right now I just switched to the thin walled clear fuel line (I used to have the thick black kind) and I have inline fuel filters that are about 2 inches long from nipple end to nipple end.

I think the kinks have been causing my low-mid range stumble. It seems to run fine when I have the tank loose and lifted up a little but when I bolt the tank down to take it out for a test ride it starts to bog down and stumble from about 2000 - 5500 rpm after 5500 it will take off again but start to slow down and sputter when you hold the throttle open.

    Thanks in advance!

I do not know which tank you are using, but on the standard tank I just finished I also installed 2 small fuel filters and I have the stock air box. Since it is so tight, I decided to cross the feeds. My standard tank has 2 valves, so the left valve goes to a filter, then to the right side fuel tee at the carb bank. The right valve goes through another filter and then to the left fuel tee on the carb bank. I just staggered the filters so the out of the way of each other. This works good and no kinks.

I did the same thing on my 81 special. Just go right petcock to left Carb T and Left petcock to right Carb T. plenty of room for filters too. I also did away with the octopus and ran a crossover line from right prime tube to left prime tube on the petcock. works great.

I have a 78 with a special tank. I do already do the left petcock to right carb tee and vice versa. but I did not stager the filters so I guess I can try that. we will see how it goes.

Thanks! That is exactly what I was hoping to see! Never thought of doing it that way! That is perfect!

Changed the lines to one of the options in the diagrams shown in the thread. Bike runs 100x better (still stumbles and pops a little thought). Its not perfect but I actually was able to take it out for a short little ride down the block and might even go a bit farther tonight! Thanks again!
