Which head?

I have seen the two different heads brought up several times but always as a side note. I am thinking about going with the big bore kit and a new cam with 256 duration. I am going to port the head while I am at it. What is the difference in valve size, I know the later heads have bigger valves but is it enough to make up for the loss in compression? I have read some where on this forum that the early heads have a better port shape, is this true? I am only brain storming at the moment but I figured I would ask.

A long time member named Dan Hodges has done it all and I know I have read several post by hime where he details out what each combo can do for you. You could do a search for his name, go to his member page under statistics and search for all post by him and read to your hearts delight. He is a fountain of knowledge for sure.
