Help me find the right pads. I have an 81 special and the front pads I need have the pin to hang em in the caliper. Partsnmore are out of stock, Ebay, never know what your gona get and my local bike shop wants $30.00 per side. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks Ron.

You're probably not gonna find cheaper than $30 a side, unless you get lucky on eBay
. Beware that there is a left and a right set for the 79-81 specials (not midnight). Dennis Kirk got 'em for $31 a side. Left P/N 19-755, right P/N 19-734.

I thought I was gettin snookered at the bike shop, Partsnmore had them for 16 per side, Just cheap quality I guess? Thanks for the help I'll just gettem from my shop.gonzo ronzo.

Is there a quality issue with the Partsnmore pads? I got a set and have not even installed them yet.Dave

I think these fit all the rear brakes on XS's?
And this is the front for the special?
Not sure if these are right, but I picked up all 3 sets for my std for $40. I have used thier fork seals on a couple of bikes and had no trouble with them, although they use a different style dust cap that stock on the XS.

I run parts n more pads on my standard, and they work fine. Wherever you decide to get them, I would stick with non-asbestos organic pads. There's another kind that have metal in them, and they're hard on rotors. They're called sintered pads IIRC, and TC specifically recommends against them.I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

I bought these pads from a member and have nothing bad to say about them. They stop well and do not make any noise. IDK if they fit your year bike though...'79 XS11 F

Those are the sintered variety. Sure they'll stop your bike. Watch what they do to your rotors.I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

We're about to find out. Another memeber said those pads are no match for our rotors and they are the toughest he's seen... I guess if they get ruined I will have a good excuse to do an upgraded break mod. Our manual actually calles for sintered pads in the rear IIRC... Im only using them on the rear right now, not the front.

ive been using sintered pads for years,
and have never had any problems with the
rotors wearing.
they stop really well whether the brakes are warmed
up or not.
fyi, all auto disc brake pads and shoes have been asbestos free for many

I'm using pads from Mike XS650 and they're just fine. I think they were around $20 a set but I'm too lazy to look at the moment.
