  • Xj exhaust 4-1 or 4-2

    Hi all

I just registered to this site as I just purchased an XJ1100 and need some exhaust advice. I got the bike for a good price but the exhaust needs replacing. The 4-1 header is is banged up (prob from driving over a bump too hard) and needs to be replaced both bottom pipes are crushed i to half the size they should be. The muffler isn't much either. I like the megaphone style and I'd like to go to a 4-2 system as it looks to create a little more clearance under the bike and they just look cool. Any idea where I can get one and if its possible to do 4-2?

    Thanks

Mac exhaust is pretty much the main supplier for your bike. They make a 4 into one & 4 into 2. I think they are around $400 brand new. I don't think they are too hard to get as they are still manufactered. I don't know for your area where you look. I know guys on the site get them off the internet. Hope that helps. The 4 into 1 mac is what I got on mine - its fine. (non-chrome, just painted it black high heat spray can) Hope this helps - Dan

Thanks, I'll get it online as well. The black exhaust idea is cool too. I may paint mine as well instead of chrome. I hope to get it soon. The bike will then be ready for the road. Can't wait to drive it.

Non stock exhaust may require some extra tuniing.
Personally like chrome but black is my favorite color.

Thanks, this seems like a great forum.
Not yet actually. Its not that clean on fancy looking. Right now I'm fixing a few things to put it on the road. The exhaust is the last(and most expensive) fix. Actually 1st gear is gone but I'll take the bike apart in the winter to fix it. I just want to drive it asap. The new cog came with the bike, I just need the time I guess.

Oh another thing. Apparently there are several different versions of the XJ model. Like the Special and Standard. How can one tell the differences between the two. I'm not sure what mine is. Looks "Standard" to me.
