    Vetter vents, what a ripoff.

So, look here at the bottom of the page for $35!:

Craig Vetter, Vetter, motorcycle design, Triumph Hurricane, Vetter Hurricane, Windjammer, Windjammer parts, Vetter fairings, Vetter fairing, Vetter history, fairings, Triumph Rocket 3, Mystery Ship, mysteryship, Terraplane, motor scooter design, industrial design, Triumph Bonneville TT, fuel economy contest, designer, inventor, lecturer, flying machine contest, high mileage contest, Quicksilver fairing, snap-vents

Not only that, there are several places that sell them for $60 a pair from a quick google search!

    Now, look here:

Think they are getting a bit of a mark up on the motorcycle stuff?

I know! Have you priced their windshield seal? Just bought one....geez... $30

I though seriously about just using the weatherstrip foam stuff... but it's thicker, and too narrow. So I bit the bullitt, so ta speak.

That windshield I just cut down already had those vents... thank goodness.
I originally intended on replacing them, then I saw how much... and suddenly my old ones looked really good...

Thanks for the other link... I could swing $15 for a pair... maybe.

Beware, the larger, non-angled vents won't work if you have a cyclesounds installed.

That said, COOL!! That link sells the 3-1/16" angled vents, which will allow me to replace my yellowed ones without having to drill the holes out to fit the ones Vetter sells! I wonder if Vetter knows this seller exists...

Vetter probably buys them from Wag Aero at a discount and marks them up 1000%.

Why can't I ever think of ways to make money off the unsuspecting?

I will modify your XS to have an automatic cam chain tensioner and adjustable vacuum advance for the nominal fee of $1500. Any takers?

Vetter sells the well nuts for mounting the lowers too. You can get them at Home Depot for less than half the price Vetter asks for them.

I think I still have a Riv-Nut kit that I can use for that...but I got to look through my repository of oddball tools from my auto tech days.

Well, they can be damaged from a rough running engine that has the carb slides in the wrong order, so there's that.

I just tried to order a set of vents, and stopped as soon as I got to the shipping charges! They want an additional $12.50 for a single set of vents!

I bet if you went to your local FBO (Fixed Base Operator, pilot speak for airplane repair shop) and told them what you're up to, they might part with a set pretty easy. Hard to tell. The FBOs lately are getting flakey. Last time I went to the airport to look at airplanes with the kids, I about got run off. Worth a try though. You could probably find them for a dime a dozen at an aircraft salvage yard if you have one close.

There's a guy here in Hutch that can scan a logo or use a digital picture to program his CNC vynil cutter to make decals. You might look into that. I am not sure what it costs.

The problem I have with the decals is that the ones he sells are not the only ones ever made. Neither my fairing or my bags/trunk have that format of decals.
