82XJ not charging

Well i sold my xj to a nice fellow never had anyelectrical probs. Three days later it stops charging, all the warning lights came on and stayed on,the tach quit working! We tryed another known to be good regulater still dosent charge! checked the brushes they look good . So where do we go from here hopefully not to the dealer!!! thanks ahead of time if u can help Mitch

Here are a couple notes from the service manual:



NOTE: Do not remove cables from the battery while the engine is running.



Last option is to replace the brushes. They may look OK, but may be worn to short to make contact.

Last of all, check the fuse block, If you still have the original, bad contacts can cause several problems. The fuse 'fingers' corrode at the bottom bend.
