    FZR1000 Brake Master Cylinder

Has anyone tried using a FZR1000 Brake Master Cylinder for their front brakes?
I bought a new on off of fleabay and installed on my 80 XS1100 special. I am going to do the Hydraulic clutch mod and want matching master cylinders.

Anyway either I still have air in the system or the pisron in the master can't deliver enough volume to give me good brakes.
I have bled and bled and the handle still feels spongy.

Another reason I replaced the master was due to the fact my front pads would drag. I had previously rebuilt it as well. By replacing the master I found that the brakes no longer drag but spongy pn nreaking.
    Thanks,
    George

Try back bleeding them, instead of trying to push that air DOWN pump the pistons out as far as you can without blowing them out of the calipers, block them somehow, then push them back in.

When you do this hold the caliper so the inlet is the HIGHEST point on the caliper. This should force the air in the lines UP out of the master.

Any air that might have stayed trapped in the caliper should be easily bled out normally after you reattach the calipers to thier mounts.

Oh.....and make sure the calipers are on the proper sides respectively.
I've seen them swapped from side to side before. Make sure the bleeder screw is at the top.

On that FZR master cylinder, is there an adjusting bolt that goes through the lever to the cylinder piston? If there is, try adjusting it. I had a similar problem with the FJ m/c, which i think is the same as the FZR.

There should be a number (a fraction) on the underside of the master cylinder that indicates the size of the bore/piston. What is it?
