XJ Carbs.

Could someone please tell me the float height settings for an '82 XJ11? I'd be very grateful. Also, my tacho just stopped working. Anyone had this happen and find a simple reason/solution?

The Yamaha service manual calls for checking the XJ float setting with a clear piece of plastic pipe attached to the nipple on the bottom of the float bowl. They say to run the bike for a few minutes to get the fuel level to settle down, and to be sure the carbs are level. Then it goes like this:
