  • gears in rong spot?

ok whats rong hear looks like drive gear and 1st in rong spot

will these work for my 82 xj1100

You are correct. The biggest gear needs to go to the outside.

All the gears from all the years interchange... XS or XJ.

For $40 you can't go wrong really. Even if you need to grind the gears on that set before you put them in, that is not bad money for them.

Also, in addition to 1st and middeld riven gear being swapped, keep in mind that in that picture the countershaft is backwards in relation to the main shaft. 5th gear is opposite side of the clutch when installed in the bike.

All of the transmissions from 1978 through 1982 (84 in Canada) were identical. The gears would interchange. Either someone changed what is in your engine or the seller on Ebay was confused to what he had.

It is more common than it should be that ebay sellers either do not know what they have or they know and just figure its worth more if firm this and sell it that way.

Are you sure they are different? Have you compared them gear for gear? What do you find to be the differences?

                yes gears

the shaft is smaller and all the gears are smaller they have dogs on them l;ike mine but all are smaller.

if you look at my other post that shows my gears that came out of my 82 xj
i will post side by sid compareson, later when i get home.
i cant see mine being rong, lol or the wouldnt fit in my tranny.

i would like to no what mine came out of maybe a 750 or 650 something like that. i bet are they simular but smaller?

From the picture they look the same, but scale is impossible to check in a picture.

You are probably correct that it is from a 750 or 650 XJ. I believe they are also four cylinder like like the 1100 and could have been mistaken for an 1100.

It is sad how many ebay sellers do not know what the heck they are selling.
