  • Kerker Muffler

Wondered if any one can confirm ,that in the late 70's early 80's the 4-1 Kerker mufflers are basically identical across different makes ie. a KZ1000
muffler would fit a XS with Kerker Headers. I just been offered what basically
looks like a new Muffler that was on a KZ1000 for $40 and hoping all its going to take changing my hanger.

    Thanks

The only part that will probably be the same is the baffle. That would be an OK price if you needed one.

Let us know if the down pipes fit! You might be onto something, not sure how many people have tried it but it sounds like no one has and probably for good reason.

Hello, the difference in the Kerker mufflers is in the mounting tab that is welded to the muffler body. If you look there is a 4 digit # or a letter "A" for example that is stamped on the back side of the mounting tab. If you can determine that information I can tell you what it will fit. Please feel free to email me at: hugger@supertrapp.com and I will assist you! Later, Gerry

            Gerry,

Glad to hear from a Supertrapp guy.

I am currently running one of your old universal conversion kits in my Jardine 4/1. I love it. I got it NOS from a dealer and it appeared to have been stored many years.

I know you still sell a (muffler-less) Supertrapp for universal application...but another member here has a set of Jardine spagetti pipes he is interested in putting the Supertraop disc system in.

I don't know any more than that but it would educate him and the rest of us here at XS1,1 if you could tell us if you might have any products which could be made to work inside a megaphone like your old universal conversion kits did.

The member who is interested in this info is Ivan, but I am sure many others here would be interested also, since the exhaust options for these bikes has dwindled to nearly nothing.

Might even be profitable for Supertrapp to come up with a new system (or revive an old one) under their banner or the Kerker banner for these old bikes...people are searching for systems almost daily for them on this site. You guys probably still have all the old specs for systems you used to sell.

            Just a thought, thanks.

              Stock exhaust is being reproduced...

              Here is the site translated.....

Because of the many demands I place the replica-supply of the XS 1100 VA - XS exhaust system here in the shop. Although on the last time rumors surfaced that there should be no more investment, it is definitely built! Many interested parties are reluctant because of the price, but one should bear in mind this is the production of the VA system pure craftsmanship and contemporary to survive the driver is.
The basic price of the manufacturer please ask !!!!!
It will be manufactured in addition to the long line for the 2H9/2H7 the short lines for the 5K7 and XS 1100 Specials, and another for the XS 750 and XS 850th

It'll be uber expensive from there...and they've been at it for a while too...still haven't heard of anyone here getting one of those systems.

Yup. Been looking at a way to get a supertrapp setup into my Jardine spaghettis. Was thinking about a megaphone type disk only, but the specs available online are sketchy at best. Email to supertrapp support has only yeilded "We don't support other manufacturer's products". I would love to find a core that would fit those old megaphones. Way I see it, the Jardine spaghetti exhaust has the right flow to the collectors, and evens out the pulses, allowing a more compact exhaust without loosing the benefits of the high volume chamber. Now if I could use the supertrapp tunability, I think it would be as near perfect as a guy could get.

Hi Ivan, I can probably help you with something for the megaphone but I will need dimensions of the megaphone. I would suggest one of our SuperTrapp cores (wrapped with fiberglass) including discs, endcap and screws. And you are correct the SuperTrapp disc technology will move you into the area of perfection!

I will need the inside diameter of the megaphone and length. A photo of the megaphone would help.

I don't mind coming to your forum but I am much more able to assisit you via email as I can receive photos and send them and the email pops up and I can immediately answer it. I do not go to the forums on a regular basis, I only go if I get a google alert about SuperTrapps or Kerkers!

Just don't have time to do that here at work. BUT, I am more than happy to answer any questions that might be asked via email.

If I am emailed to go to the forum I will do so as I did today but I need to know where to look, just give me some guidance in finding your questions. That way I find you quicker and can get back to work.

                          Welcome Aboard Gerry,

Thanks for entering the fray. This is one of the best sites on the web no matter the subject. Unbelievably informative and helpful while having a great sense of humor about it all.

Got to love a girl riding a ST1300! I rode an '84 V65 Sabre for a year and always thought the ST's were a great evolution of that awesome bike.

Thanks for being willing to let us know who you are and what you do!

I can try to assist you but I will need more information. You have a KZ1000 muffler BUT is it the Megaphone or the K Series muffler? There is a part # stamped on the back side of the mounting bracket that is welded to the muffler body or it may be stamped on the inlet of the muffler. The # may be a letter or #, see what you can find!
