  • Special tank going away!!

That's right, kids. I got my new to me standard tank today in the mail. I cannot say enough good about Andreas and his service. He went above and beyond! It was a pleasure to deal with him.

The macho maroon is bubbling and lifting as we speak, and will be scraped off shortly. This in order to make way for what I hope will be a rather technical paint job with a cafe flavor...stay tuned for that

Oh, and if anyone needs a custom painted special tank, I know where there will be one for sale here soon

WOW, do you know how RARE factory paint / pin stripping on a 78 fuel tank is? Unless the paint was in really poor condition it should have been saved and worked into your project.

Let the Macho Maroon be gone I say. So what are you thinking on the paint scheme? Come on let us have a hint.

LOL, the paint was in very poor shape, and in fact had been repainted to macho maroon, I found as I stripped it. No great loss there.

As far as the new paint, I am thinking black with off white (or copper metal flake, not sure which, yet) knee dents, edged in a gold leaf border, and numbered using gold leaf in the knee dents. The spine will be a checkered black and white, and edged in leaf. All the leaf will be pinstripe edged in a color yet to be decided. Then I am thinking about a little bit of airbrush art on the front sides, perhaps an Ace or Spade airbrushed to look as if riveted on. That is the concept for now...

Most here have seen my old tank. It will be for sale as soon as I get this one done!
