There are LOTS of things you can buy that are illegal to use on the street. In CA, it's illegal for ANY vehicle to have ANY blue lights ANYWHERE on it, except for a police car. You can go to Pep Boys and buy blue lights all day long. If you mount them on your vehicle and turn them on, you can get cited for impersonating an officer! It took me a long time to get used to seeing ambulances and tow trucks here in MO with blue lights on them...

Lots of bikes have blue or purple lights in the center of their tail lights. That is illegal too (at least it is here in MO).

I hear what your saying there....here in IN its the same way. What I'm referring to buying a brand new motorcycle off the dealer showroom floor with handlebars that are more than the 15 inchs taller than the seat as required by law here in good ol Indiana. It just doesn't make sense to me. I understand that adding things after the purchase are on me.......weird!!

Dave, Dave.....I would be glad to send the side covers your way. If only I had them. Its a long story that involves a buddy of a buddy that was working on the bike before I got ahold of it and a lack of accountability. Either way, lets just say that hardtailing it was more or less a choice that was made for me due to a lack of parts!!!

lwburnham - Thanks anyway. It's the thought that counts! I could tell you a long story with a similar ending. PO's - you can't have one of these bikes without them (unless you are the OO), and you can't mutter enough bad things about them under your breath
