DO NOT change intake at all. There is no proven power increase........besides that, it'll only take me a couple houre to get there and run a row of hodnocks around you head if you modify that Midnite at all! Plus SKIDS is in Arvada, alot closer! Seriously, don't think you fully understand what a find you've made, and for 6 bills, OMG, either the left side or the right side exhaust would bring that in that cond(don't even think about it). Nice example of a Midnite to show -off, ride and TAKE CARE of!

Besides that, weather gets nice would consider personnally coming over and oversee/supervise a 101 carb session if needed for a meal and bed on that Midnite. Skids may also chime in.

Before doing any carb removal, trbig gave the best suggestion, full tank add an ounce of SEA-FOAM to fuel. Ride that tank out and do one more time. With the looks of that bike and if it sat for several months without running could very well perk right up with just some carb adjustments. Do NOT take it to a shop for ANYTHING, no matter what your told. Your BEST advice is gotten here, period! Plus you have another seasoned XS'er right where you live, and another over the hill three hours away ALWAYS up for a ride.

I can't believe the price you paid for that bike - WHAT A DEAL!!! - you don't want to know what I paid for mine & it was a rustbucket. I just finished it up this year & yours is still more more awesome. From one MNS owner to another - You found a diamond pal - I wouldn't touch or change a thing. - Dan

            Sweeeeet Scoot!!!

What a deal. Hope the SeaFoam does the trick. You don't learn as much, but its more fun to be able to ride it sooner. Best of luck to you. And as they said this is the best place for info, help, tech tips, how to's etc. Welcome. Kim

              Xs1100lg

I have the same bike. Good luck with yours it was a crazydeal for sure.
Unfortunately mine has lost spark. Its at the shop now. Hope to get it back in a week or so. Praying on that one though.

Is there a common reason why this bike may have suddenly lost spark?

Ran fine a few weeks ago, now I got nothing, not even an attempt to run.

Thanks and good luck with that LG..........John

Yup... so get a cheap volt meter, get it out of the shop, and let people help YOU fix it. The more knowledge you can get on them, the more chances of you not having to call a tow truck on the side of the road some day because a ground or wire wiggled loose.

                  That is one sharp bike!

I have never dealt with Old Bike Barn, but if as Ebock112 said they are not a reliable shipper I just bought the same kit from Amazon yesterday for $2 less when you factor in the free shipping. I just ordered them yesterday so I do not know if they will arrive in a timely fashion.

I would get your carbs running right before making any other changes. If you make a bunch of changes it can be harder to track down an issue. You can test your coils using the directions found here:

                  http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=583

Plus, there is enough about coils (and carbs) on this site to keep you reading for a long, long time. Try the search feature. I also recommend adding your location and bike model to your signature to make it easier for people to help you with future problems. You should also (as has been mentioned) upgrade your coils with TC's fuse box:

                  http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=103

                  http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14052

The fuse box is probably the weakest part on these steeds.

+1 what trbig says....get that XS OUT of the shop, immediatley if not sooner. The combined knowledge here has forgot more than any shop would know. If it runs CORRECTLY let alone at all after a shop has worked on it, feel very fortunate! Once any minor issues are corrected by YOU these are very dependable scoots for fun riding or coast to coast riding. Plus, as trbig stated if you learn a few things about them you can fix most anything along side the road. Can't do that with newer scoots and I would be hard-pressed to fix most failures on my 92Honda ST along side road. Not as simple as these scoots are.

+2!! Quickest way to waste money on your bike is to take it to a shop. Money that could be spent on tools or other things that you will then be able to use in the future. You will gain so much more emotional attachment to your bike when you learn how to fix it yourself. Not only that, but you'll feel a lot more confident riding further from home.

Congrats to you! Good score on a sweet ride. MNS bikes are real special. +1 on the Seafoam in the fuel and the K&N. Run my SG that way alla time. Stock airbox is good, engineered especially for you by the fine folks at Yamaha, no extra charge. Pull carbs in 15 min. when necessary. Install about the same. Clean it up, ride it. Buy a junker to mod if you have the need, but keep the MNS original as possible.
