  • Brake fluid thread

I'm draining my MC's and cleaning them out tonight. I thought I heard never to mix brake fluid types. I don't know what's in there now, if I put DOT3 in and there was DOT4 in there, am I screwed?

Never mind, tried a different set of search terms and found it. I'm a doofus. Thanks.

No. Dot3 and Dot4 can mix. just NEVER mix with Dot5. You should probably clean out all remnants of the old fluid anyway though, just to be sure all the gunk is gone.

Yeah, I just changed the rear pads, they were toast. And I couldn't get the piston to back out on the caliper til I released the bleeder valve so I'm thinking I've got a filthy spooge hole (Not often you get to use that phrase in polite conversation). Brake fluid looked pretty, but I want to eyeball the rear MC anyhow.

      Thanks Bug!
