You really shouldn't have to have the car started. A car battery has LOTS of capacity for starting the smaller engine on the bike.

If the bike, normally, starts well while boosting, you probably just beed a new battery on the bike.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

      Update

Well, I put the DMM on the battery while cranking, and the voltage drops to about 9.7V while cranking, so that is likely my problem. I hooked it up to a car battery, and it started after just a little cranking, and the voltage stayed up around 11V while cranking. I picked up a new "Energizer" battery from Wal-Mart last night, and I'm going to install the new fuse block, clean up my electrical connectors, and put in the new battery tonight. I think that ought to straighten things out.

I'll post back later tonight or tomorrow with whether I was successful or not. Hopefully I'll have it insured and plated by tomorrow night!

        Success!

Last night, I replaced the fuse block, and cleaned up some electrical connections. I charged the new battery overnight, and this morning, it fired up with minimal cranking. Voltage stayed up around 10.7V while cranking. I'm calling this done for now. Today's project is getting a plate, and taking a test drive when I get home tonight!

        Can't wait

        Thanks for all the help!
