    Hi,

I got 4 emgo filters with the parts bike I picked up. Just to be clear, these are the ones not to use due to the blockage issue, aren't they?

Yes that's the pod with a lip that can interfere with passages...I believe some have used them successfully though.

I wonder if you could manually notch that lip to clear... Guess I'll take a look tonight while I'm changing the gear oil and brake fluid. Thanks!

I understand that you can remove that lip with a dremel or other tool and they will work fine, but I'm not sure if I were going to buy they I would not just pay the little bit more and not have to bother.

Yeah, I've already got 4 in boxes that were in with the parts bike I picked up.

Yeah, if you remove the lip, IIRC they will work just fine. You just need to make sure the lip won't interfere with/cover the hole around the mouth of the carb.

look here for a decent and easy solution to using emgo pods. They work pretty well, but don't last forever. Mine had the glue come loos on the end and they started to fall apart pretty quickly after that. But for $15 for the set on craigs list, if they lasted 100 miles, it was still a bargain.

I messed with the jets all the time trying to cure the dead spot from a straight through exhaust, so I can't help much there.

In the Dynojet kit, it talks about using dict tape to temprorarily block off part of your filter to test for proper jetting. If the restriction makes it better, you need bigger jets, if it gets worse, go smaller. Never tried the trick yet, but will soon.

ive notched the lips on those filters before,
if you do you need to be careful cause if you take
too much off, the chrome part of the filter wont hold
                      on securely.
the link that ivan put up is a good 1 if you have the boots
to spare, i have done the same thing with foam uni filters
but didnt have to cut the stacks to do it.
