  • Engine guard help please

    I'm trying to find engine guards for my 79 xsf and am having troubles locating some. Can anyone tell me if any of the below ones will fit? Or any suggestions? Please and Thanks!!

    I don't think any of those will fit. My guess is that they would all be much to narrow to fit around your engine.

    The only ones I'd consider a possibility are the "vintage yamaha" ones because they don't list a bike. Send em a message and ask for some measurements between the mounting points and then measure your bike to see if they would fit.

      There are two point and three point engine guards that you can find for our machines. I strongly recommend the three point variety. They're stronger than the two point, which have the annoying habit of folding back into your timing and alternator covers when they're called upon to do their duty. The two points are fine if the bike falls over in the driveway, but other than that... Might be worth a PM to Andreas to see if he's got any in stock.
      I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

        I completely agree that the 3-point guards are the way to go. I've seen pictures of an engine that had the 2-point style fold back and literally destroy the timing cover and the entire engine case.

        However, the 2-point style seem to be much easier to find. There's a set on ebay right now.
