Does anyone see a problem running a filter for the crankcase and middlegear drive in this location? Is it going to puke on me because it's not high enough? the P.O. never had a hose on it.

I don't see anything wrong with the location. Just be aware that you may get oil jumping out into that hose, and it's going to hit the back of that pretty paper filter. I would think a clear in-line fuel filter would be a better choice, but that's just my opinion.1980 XS850SG - Sold

Thoe are both vents. The middle drive should have almost nothing coming from it unless you over fill it. And the breather vent should not puke oil at you unles you majorly over fill the crankcase or have major engine issues. I would think moisture is your biggest issue with the filter getting wet from the moist crankcase discharge till the engine warms up.
I think that looks good and should do fine!Life is what happens while your planning everything else!
