  • 78 standard xs 1100 serial

Ours is 2H7026357, it would be interesting to find out how many were actually made. I was told the later 78's were the fastest. Is that correct?

Just curious, probably does not mean a thing, but an interesting fact.

How many were actually amde in 78 xs1100 standard and in what colors?

    Thanks
    Sherry

I have never seen production numbers of any kind. It would be interesting to collect ID numbers and see how high they do go. The 78-79 I think are the same, engine wise. The 80-81's had some changes made to the combustion chamber and valves for emissions, so they may be concidered slower but published HP was the same at 95. Going on memory here so I could be wrong.

78E was in arctic silver too... or something. According to my yamaha dealer. Not sure bout arctic, but it was silver.

          (1) 1979 XS 1100 SF = 3H3011945
          (2) 1979 XS 1000 SOLO = 2H7025223

On the second one = it is a new purchase and different style then # 1 Could you tell me what the "SOLO" stands for.
You think # 1 is fast man #2 is a real tar ripper. It has 70,000 on it and runs good while the XS SF has only 8,000 and like new.

              Serial #

My 78XS11's serial # is 2H7100553 not far off from Tom Cale's 78
Under the blue paint that it came clad in when I bought are small glimpses of it original macho maroon. There was a silver 78 though as I've seen vintage post ads showing the 78 in both colors.
