This topic has come up again in a couple different threads. From the EBC brake rotor catalog, here is a list of Yamaha bikes that use the same front and rear rotors as the XS 11:

Model Year, Pads, Front Left, Front Right, Rear Pads, Rear Rotor
    XS 500 C/D/E 76-78 FA34 MD2024LS MD2024RS FA34 MD2025RS
    XS 850 LG/LH/SG/SH Left 80-81 FA61 MD2024LS MD2024RS FA34 MD2025RS
    XJ 1100 J 82 FA70* MD2024LS MD2024RS FA41 MD2025RS
    XS 1100 E/F/G/H 78-81 FA34* MD2024LS MD2024RS FA34 MD2025RS
    XS 1100 LH Midnight Special 81 FA70* MD2024LS MD2024RS FA41 MD2025RS
    XJ 650 LH Midnight 81 FA61 MD2024LS 512
    XS 650 D/E/F/2F 77-79 FA34 MD2024LS 514
    XV 920 K 83 FA61 MD2024LS 515
    XV 920 MK Virago 83 FA61 MD2024LS 515
    XS 1100 SF/SG/SH Left 79-81 FA61 MD2024LS FA34 MD2025RS
    XS 1100 LG Midnight Special Left 80 FA61 MD2024LS FA34 MD2025RS

LS= Left Side, RS= Right Side. * = 2 sets of pads needed. Most rear rotors are same as right side front. Some above models have no rear rotor.

So, if you are looking for replacment rotors for your XS or XJ, these will fit. Styles may differ, slotted or solid, but they are interchangeable. Note: This data is from only 1 source, and is only a comparison to EBC replacment parts. There may be other rotors that fit. If so, please let me know so I can update this list. For example, EBC does not, apparently list a right-front rotor for the '80 LG, but there has to be one. Is it the same as the left front rotor?

Complete EBC fitment catalog can be downloaded as a .pdf or as an Excel spreadsheet from http://www.ebcbrakes.com/catalogues.shtml

Moderators, should a rotor interchange be in Tech Tips?

    rear rotor addendum.

I should also mention that the following bikes use the same rear rotor (MD2025RS) as many listed above, but carry different front rotor numbers:

    XS 650 SE/SF/SG 78-80
    RD 400 F Daytona 79
    XS 750 D/2D/E/F 77-79
    XS 850 G/H 80-81
    XS 750 SE/SF 78-79

So if you are looking for a used rear rotor you can consider these bikes as doners.

Ugghh! I just asked a question like this awhile ago and got back 750-850 rotors were too small. Now I see theyll work, now that the auction is over!!! oh well good thing there's plenty of them. For now anyway.

          Hmmmmm....

When I bought my 850 FD it came with the wheel, rotor and all. IIRC it was from an 850G.

The wheel fits fine but the 850 rotor is 10 1/2" and my 1100SG rotor is 12".

            Hi 'rider,
either you are mis-reading the data or it is plain wrong.
All 3 of the XS750 rotors are the same smaller diameter as the rear rotor on an XS650 and although they will bolt onto an XS11 wheel they will not work with the XS11's calipers.
The front rotor (or rotors) XS650 and all 3 of the XS11 rotors are the same larger diameter.
You can swap a post '77 XS650 rotor onto an XS11 although it will not be slotted.
XS650 owners prefer swapping a slotted XS11 rotor onto their bikes rather than drilling theirs.

I agree ,the rotors for 750/850's are smaller in diameter I have a set and they are close to an inch smaller in diameter. That data is definitely misleading.

From EBC the fronts should be 298mm. EBC lists the rear at 266mm. Which I believe is incorrect. I think the front right and rear disk are the same. Bike Bandit lists the same part #s for the front right and rear disk. Mikes XS lists 298mm rotors for $130.00 each. There is a brass caliper space washer that is included with the rotor for the 650. I think some years of the 650s use the smaller 266mm rotor and with the larger rotor, 298mm you need the spacer for the 650. Should not need it with the XS1100. I have not test fit or verified the rotors from mikesxs. When I do get the cash up I might invest in a set.

Well, not exactly. The 750s are not in the list for front rotors and I suspect the 850s listed are Midnight Specials due to the 2-letter model designation. The 750s are listed as having the same smaller rear disk as the 11s, not the same fronts.

As I said, this was from only 1 source, EBC, and they could be wrong. I was under the impression that Seca rotors of the early '80s Yamahas would fit, but they are not in the list.

I guess what I need to do now is put serial number identifiers (such as 10M for the XJ100, or 2H7 for a '78 XS11) with the year/model stuff so it is easier to identify the bike model when you are in a boneyard.
