You could look for an XJ rear MC like C-bug did. Or you could switch the systems out to typical XS system of rear only for rear MC and dual front.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

As a side note, I just replaced the front left caliper on this project LH tonight (with one from an XJ). All the fluid had been drained from the lines forward of the rear MC, since I disassembled the system, trying to get the old caliper to work. I used this one-man bleeder that I borrowed from my neighbor (just to see if it would work) and I was AMAZED at how easy it was!!
I used the tubing addition to the reservoir pictured earlier in this thread, to add to the amount of fluid I could pump through at a time. It took me a total of about 15 minutes to bleed the entire system (I re-did the right front too, just for kicks). No need for the $30 mighty-vac. This thing is only $4 at Harbor Freight! I'll be going to get my own soon!1980 XS850SG - Sold

I have a brand new old stock kit (Genuine Yamaha # 4W1-W0042-00) sitting right in front of me. I plan on using it on my 81LH even though it is old stock. I figure it can not be worse than using one that has been in the bike for 30 yrs. It has been in its original box, in a sealed plastic bag for all these yrs too. The seals seem to be like new in their flexibility and looks. If anyone knows for sure that using them may not be a wise decision please let me know.
Now for the reason for the post. As I have a brand new kit here, all the dimensions for the rubber and metal parts are available. If anyone has access to a lathe or whatever machinery needed, the metal parts could be made. Now if anyone a lot smarter than myself knows how to find the cups by cross referencing them or find them by measurement, we would have nearly everything. The spring, circlip and horse shoe shaped washer would be easy to find if we could get the other parts. So, If that someone a whole lot smarter than myself wants to take on the searching etc I will supply the kit I have for use as a pattern so to speak. If we managed to pull something off, a supply would be in place for all the XS's that need this kit.2-79 XS1100 SF

Bug,
Are you sure the XJ has a larger bore? They list it as 16mm. That works out to .629 while I have not yet checked the MNS has 11/16 on it. That would be .687? Gonna check in the morning. I would not prefer going smaller.'81 1100 MNS - "Midnight XSpress"

That
won't work on a 81 MNS. The one you have should be correct.'81 1100 MNS - "Midnight XSpress"
