I broke the plastic cap on one of my spark plug wires trying to get the broke off spark plug head out of it... ie my question http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread...ark+plug+wires So I was wondering if NGK makes some cables with the caps on em? All I got was the wire from my ****ty moto shop 100 miles away. I just want a simple solution to this. Any ideas? Heres a pic.

What's left of your cap UNSCREWS from wire. You'll see how that works/makes connection once unscrewed. If end of wire is corroded, side cutters and cut off a 1/4 inch back and screw a new one on. Beat me to it, but what Bikerphil said will get U going again.81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.

The new NGK caps also come in different resitance values. 0, 1K and 5K.
The XS uses the 5K Ohm ones, unless you want to run resistor plugs instead.Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

No real source persay, I called the local auto parts store and asked if they had NGK screw on plug caps, he said yes but he only has the 90 deg style. Mine uses the short caps on 1 and 4 and the longer 90 deg caps for 2 and 3... I just was wondering what are the "best" caps to use, more resistance or less since Im using non-R plugs...does it make a difference?
If it does and he dont have the correct ones, ie length or resistance, I will just order them online and wait for them b/c it runs fine right now. Its just and excuse to get out and ride but ultimately I think the spark could be stronger, plugs are a little sooty even on the lean side...Last edited by WMarshy; 05-15-2010, 12:51 PM.'79 XS11 F

Canadian Tire carries all three, here.
I would check Napa,or any motorcycle or quad shop. They are still in use on many recreational vehicles.Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

I already have multiple sources, I just want to figure out what resistance I should buy! Im ready to walk out the door and if he has multiple choices of resistance I want to know whats best. Your earlier post say 5K... what is your source, OEM manual or is that just what you decided to use..? Does it make a difference???'79 XS11 F

Stock they are 5k ohm. still trying to find out how I know that...
These days it's getting hard to get non-resistor plugs, so it might be easier to go with 0k ohm caps and just use standard resistor type plugs.
What I am not sure about is how MUCH resistance spark plugs have...Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

Thanks, it sounds like the 5K caps are the most common/easiest to find so that may be the reason why you used them. I just didnt want to get the wrong ones and find out the hard way that they do something bad to my coils. I didnt end up buying any b/c he didnt have the long 90 deg caps, just the short ones. Non-R plugs are still easy to come buy here...'79 XS11 F

Anywhere I have seen them they have had all 3 (5K, 1K and 0 Ohm) so it wasn't a convenience issue.
These bikes call for the 5k Ohm, we've had this discussion a few times over the years.Nice day, if it doesn't rain...
