  • XS rotor and source ?s

Ok couple things, first my front rotors are grooved and need resurfaced. or should I just find replacements?? Next what mail order source is best for parts, handlebars(drag or similar), brake pads, headlight etc. If there's already a thread for this someone pls point me in right direction. THX.

I have yet to find anyone who will turn the SS rotors on our bikes. Best source I know is Andreas Weiss, a fellow memeber with a parts warehouse. You can also post in the parts wanted area, look on ebay, or buy from some online sources like JC whitney. I still recommend other members as the best source for brake rotors. I bought osme off Ebay and got a warped one. Fortunately, no the one that was already warped on my bike.

Handlebars, I found my local bike shop sells them. Got a set of 7/8" bars in the dimensions of the Goldwing bars alot of folks prefer for the Special model for less than $30.

Best source for brake pads I know is Parts-n-more. But timing is everything with them. Parts go out of stock alot with them. Headlight others will have to tell you about.
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

'Grooved' doesn't mean they're bad, unless the grooves are pretty deep. Normal wear will leave enough 'lines' that your fingernail will catch. If you have some grooves deeper than about .010", then you might want to look for some better ones. DGXSER is steering you straight.

Headlight? What are you looking for? Complete replacement, or just a new lamp? Every year/model except the '78E uses a replaceable lamp and that can be got at any auto parts house.

If you want to see if they can be turned, you have to take them to a machine shop.

The ordinary rotor lathes at the brake shops aren't made to turn harder rotors from motorcycles.

I've done it, but it makes a really wierd check pattern on the rotor from the bit chattering.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...
