  • Replacing rear shock spring??

Is there a way to put a new spring on the rear shocks? Want to keep the look but get a spring more for my weight. I have had springs replaced on modern bikes but not my XS. Anyone done this?

Yep, I've changed springs many times using a home made tool I built....

So basically you are compressing the spring to get it out? Where have you purchased replacement springs?

Yes, you compress the spring and then remove the top keeper, then release the tension. I've never really bought any springs, just salvaged ones from other bike shocks. I know Progressive sells springs, check on eBay. You can cheat and put a spacer above the preload adjuster to make your springs stiffer if you want. I wouldn't put too much money into 30 yr old shocks if you still have the originals.
