  • I need speedo / parts info

Does anybody have, or know where I may be able to get a good used speedometer and the small rubber cushion that the side cover slots fit over. Will probably just have the dealer get me the cushion, but while out test riding my XS11 the end of the speedometer needle broke off and is now bouncing around at the bottom of the speedometer. So would like to get this fixed soon, maybe I could just epoxy it back together? Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated, I can also be reached by personal email, at jchigbee@yahoo.com
    Thanks!

What year/model XS11 do you have?
I have speedo's for Standards, but I don't think that I have any Specials right now.

Thanks Mike, guess I should have added that part, unfortunetly it is a 79 Special. Although, I have been considering changing over to a square headlight and gauges. So if you have time go ahead and give me prices on what you have for the standard.
      Thanks

The dampener rings that go between the bucket and the gauge itself are still available thru Partsfish. I own a 78 but the earliest they list there is the 80 but many of the parts are the same. I just ordered a new set of brake/clutch lever boots from them as well as a few other little parts. I believe they are around $15 each for the dampeners.

I just swapped over a special to the square gauges and it's a lot of work. All of the plugs are different. I have a parts bike that had a buchered wiring harness so I had a source for the parts I needed but I spent a day splicing wires. The good news is that all the wires are the same colors and there is only l place where 2 round wires are combined so it's rather straight forward. Also you will loose your low fuel warning light. I haven't tried to see of the fuel gauge sending unit will fit the special tank.

I didn't have a good round speedo either but I may have the rubber damper. I'll check tonight.
