I have the clymer edition of the shop manual and it has a descrepency in the maximum allowence of the bore size that says the maximum wear on a cylinder is 2.819 in. (71.6mm) and if the cylinder is beyond discard it, theres allot of meat on them left and theres ring and piston sets that are made for beyond the books limitation even a few pages further in the book but im not sure if i need to buy aftermarket cylinders or can i bore the stock ones? thanks everyone sorry im a nuub i looked but and didnt see it and i want to do my first bike right

Any decent automotive machine shop can bore the cylinders for you.
As far as I know, the only oversize piston and ring kits options are by Wiseco.
I went to the 1179 cc kit .. but they have a 1196 cc kit too ..

want to do my first bike right
Some can be had for $50.00 to $200.00.
There is the chance that the top end could be FUBARed but
all the ones I found were still in spec..
Last engine I went thru I used the pistons and cylinders from the donor
bike which had good compression. . Replaced a few bearings that were marginable.
Fired right up and has several thousands of miles since done.

I have the 1179 kit i was just tryin to clarify if i needed to buy new cylinders or not cus the book says that im beyond the limitation. So thats my question can i use the stock cylinders or do i have to buy aftermarket ones? the bore is the stage 1 kit cus the stock rings are short right now and im waiting to bore the cylinders again til i find out for sure i can use them. Can i bore stock cylinders?

Yes you can bore stock cylinders. The manual is referring to stock size pistons if you are out of spec that will not affect the big bore kit after you bore to fit your 1179 kit.BDF Special
