Timing/jetting vs altitude?

Made a good effort to look and didn't find anything on this:
I saw the jetting reccomendations, but approximately what would the correction factor be for altitude? I'm at 4,ooo feet here. Am wondering about timing advance also. On most of the cars I build, I can usually get away with the timing about one degree per theousand foot on the advance if it was fairly stock, and still not detonate.

No need to make changes, timing or otherwise. The CV carbs compensate very well(higer altitude a bit less vacuum). Timing change @ 4000ft. will gain you NOTHING or affect running. Trust me on this as I bought mine new and rode it ten years at 6500ft. and everything from there went up. Now here in Grand Junction just under 5000ft., all still stock, air box and all no issues. Just make sure carbs are clean, adjusted PROPERLY and synced. Mine gets rode everything from 2500ft. to 11,500ft. Go ride till the grin hurts!.....then do it again!

Thanks for the info. I'm looking at everything from sea level to 8000', so I wanted to make sure.
Hope to get the grin on soon...I decided to check out the whole bike and fix all the (iffy) "repairs and maintenance" the previous owner made. Amazing it ran as well as it did. This way I can start from square one and get it up to what I believe is par. Rather worry about things here in the garage than on the road- time well spent I think. Just makes me nuts having to do this.
Sounds like you've been over Independence Pass a few times. That would be a good one on the bike. Thanks again.
