  • Eratic Oil level

My bike has recently become a running bike.
I have noticed more than once the oil level rise about 1/4" after a ride.
    Here is the scenario.
Check oil cold before start up.
    slightly above minimum mark.
5 minuets after ride it would be about 1/4" to 3/8" higher.
a few hours later it would go back 1/4" to 3/8" lower.
Checked the oil with a match to see if I was getting any gas and It was not.
Could it be the oil expansion or a vent causing the different levels?

Do you normally park the bike on the kickstand? Oil runs more freely when it's hot than cold. If you put it on the kickstand and let it cool down that way, my guess would be when you put it on the center stand the cold thick oil hasn't completely run down to the bottom of the engine. Get the motor hot, and the oil gets thinner, and more easily runs to the bottom of the motor. That would be my guess. I don't think oil expands that much, but who knows. I wouldn't worry about it as long as it isn't coming out of your breather tube, leaking, or experiencing abnormally high oil consumption, and the oil pressure light isn't coming on.
I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.
