      it's a plain total f**kup.
      Especially as their 1980 and newer XS650 seats had a far superior easy to use lift-off latching system that worked with the ignition key.
      Hmm...I've never had much problem on my 78E, especially without saddlebags. Maybe it's my non-stock comfy seat...

        anyone tried to swap the XS650 config to the 1100?

        The one Fred mentioned? I haven't seen it myself - but I would love not to have to dig out a wrench to look under the seat. It's my favorite hiding place
