    An update:

Front brakes work like a charm!! New M/C, stainless lines, rebuilt calipers...damn. WAY different than old stockers!!!

Clutch was WAY out of adjustment. Start, idle to warm up, pull clutch, bike lurched out of garage like a cannon. luckily i was anticipating anything and was ready at the kill switch.

adjusted clutch by manual. too much. i couldnt tell when it "slightly touches pressure plate". start, clutch, shift, release...NOTHING. adjusted tooooo much. back it out and good to go....almost. clutch slipping at high rpm. may be laundry list of things to fix there, but i dont think so. This isnt the original engine according to casting numbers, and other than some years of discolor and dirt...the internals of everything (cluch side, timing side) look factory clean.
will adjust more to see how it goes.

Forks need new seals. fork oil not gushing out, but its there. Will take forks off Frankenbike and rebuild, then replace....Frankenbike has a MUCH newer front tire anyway. The Conti tire on 'Sunshine looks like it was Thomas Edisons first attempt at vulcanizing rubber. I honestly wouldnt go more than 50 MPH with the thing for no more than a couple of miles. It holds air, has tread..but REMEMBER...just trying to find out what is next to fix, not go cruising for the day/week!!!

Absolutely NO signs of shifting problems. Smooth as a newborns bottom. Fix done?? doubt it. im guessing not many miles on it to be a problem yet. maybe if i get it going this month, ride this summer, will attempt to do 2nd gear fix...or wait till it starts to show signs of needing it...who knows.

Speedo not working well. moves but SLOWLY. bad gear, needs lubed??? I have a 2nd and 3rd speedo housing to play with...changing ALLLLLLL bulbs up there to LED's to help Mr. Stator out.

Anyway...went to gas station with can of SeaFoam in my pocket. Only had about 2 quarts of go-juice in the tank when i started....easier to lift up that way to tune!! sputtered like a sow at the feeding trough....gas in bowls about 2 months old. New gas, a couple of blocks worth of riding ( 2 mile square block) and she's purring like a kitten. Btw...fuel guage WORKS!! Shut off. barely tap starter button..and VVVvvvrrrooooom. good idle (thank all of you folks with the carb cleaning/inspection threads about 6 months ago!!! REALLY paid off!!)

Next on the list....replace the rear brake system. Still have the SS line from the box kit. New caliper and rear m/c from XSLover to install.

How hard to rebuild forks???? it CANT be as delicate as the darn carbs...right?

Thanks for helping, thanks for listen to me rant on...but heck...the rest of you put up with Tod, so what the heck...

Congrats on gettign the beast to roar and run!!! Now the real fun begins. Now that she runs and rides your going to want to fix all the little stuff you have been overlooking for the big issues.
