  • Free Alternator Rotor Pulling bolt

Carlsbad, NM is remote and aparently we hate the metric system too.

I spent the better part of the week looking for a 16mm 1.5 pitch 50mm bolt. Not only did nobody have one, but most of the places I checked scoffed at the metric system with disdain and disgust.

Anyway, I found some online and ordered the minimum order of four. I will gladly give three away for the cost of shipping. Let me know if yor want one. They are 10.9 strength with the thread running up the entre shank.

I was over at Oregon Bolt today picking up some hardware for my bis and I ordered one. They said they had never sold a bolt in this size and they're ordering some for me. I went with an allen head since I figured it would wear less...

Tony, those bolts have to have a LOT of torque on them to get those rotors off. I've only seen an impact alone get them off one time. Normallly, I've had to run them up as tight as I could with an impact or breaker bar, then hit the end of that bolt a good shot with a hammer to get the rotor to finally pop off.

I just don't know if you'll get the torque needed to get them off with an allen head. Not saying I've never been wrong before though.. lol.

Sam, I sent you a PM this morning.

I just went to my local John Deere dealer and picked one up from there. 5 bucks plus tax, went home with the bolt for under 6 bucks. It is a common item on John Deere farm equipment.

Well, when my ex was doing her thing, there was a real famine that was brought on by the plague. It was so terrible that she is still trying to make me sell my XS. She can't because I didn't ride when I was married to her, so maybe the plague and famine was just a delusion from not getting enough high speed oxygen.

Wow! Murphy's law struck and the bolts arrived right before I left for Socorro , NM for the weekend. I was bummed, but tonight after we returned, I tried to remove the rotor and whoosh! it came off like nothing.

Very impressed. I will send out the remaining three tomorrow.
