  • Another handlebar thread

Did some searching and I found a lot of threads about XJ's and other handlebar oddities. Mines more straight forward. I'm 6'3 and have fairly wide shoulders. The bars on my '78E make me turn my wrists inward painfully. I am looking for a shop locally that has bars I could actually lay hands on.

I want a straighter bar, but with the same, or even a bit more pullback then I have now. I've seen pictures of bars like these:

that seem like they'd do the trick. But how would something like that mount on a '78E?

    Any help is appreciated.

Hey Fix: I know Mikesxs has lots of bars that is a straight fit on the specials, & they have a style kinda like you showed with a built in riser - thats were I got mine. Don't know if it would fit a standard but I'm sure someone will chime in & let you know - Dan

What you can do, 'cos i did, was get another XS handlebar clamp and turn it over so there's one on top of the other, then get some moto cross bars, various styles work, and clamp 'em up. Piece of piss.

The XS11 standard bar was painful for me, too. I went back to the original Special bar. I know, it isn't for everybody, but it works for me. I'm 6'4".

You should be able to find something comfortable without using risers. At 6'3", I expect you have plenty of reach. If that is not the case, I found the following after a brief search. Perhaps something like this might fit?

        Scooterworks-Handlebar Risers

Mike's XS has this direct bolt in. The XS650 bar clamps are positioned identical to the XS1100.

Something like this might have enough rise and a comfortable angle.

Thanks Marty, wasn't sure if that mount was the same. Good to know!
