Thank you, John, excellent idea!
The only key I have that fit at all was a micro Master lock key. It was totally the wrong key and wouldn't turn.
I found some new latches with keys on eBay and they look identical to the ones on the saddlebags now. They're sold in pairs so I should be able to replace all four latches for ~$25 if I stick with the design. It looks like they could be jarred loose (perhaps the reason for the missing lid) so I may go with locking butterfly latches instead of the guitar/luggage latches. Butterfly latches would be ~50.00 for four latches. I think they'd definitely be more secure but I might also be locking myself out of the bags in an emergency (like losing the keys again) with no hope real of popping the latches without destroying the latches or the lids.

The great news is that the air shock fitting held up and never even touched the saddlebag bracket! I got sidetracked into a sucker-exit and wound up going through a truck weigh station Empty lane at about 60 MPH instead of the exit. If that wasn't bad enough I didn't see the giant 5 MPH speed bump until I was almost on top of it so I hit it at about 45 MPH and kind of took flight. The CHP parked in the weigh station gave me one of 'those' looks implying perfectly valid criticisms at the time regarding my ancestry and intelligence and contemptuously declined to give chase. If that didn't make the shock fittings hit the bracket nothing will.
After meeting up with GarthXS and Planedick, after Planedick finished adjusting Garth's carbs, we went for a nice ride around the hills southeast of Disneyland, then had a late lunch. That was fun but I wound up doing about 60 miles of lane sharing with rush hour traffic. I was physically okay when I finally got home but my mind was sort of numb and I felt exhausted. I really don't want to have to do that again if it can be avoided.
What a day!
Regards,
Scott
