  • Who would like SS brake Pistons

I am thinking about whipping some out. I only have the ones for the 81 MNS so would need samples from someone for the other bikes. I don't know the cost yet as I have not priced the Stainless. It will be LESS than the OEM list.
Just checking to see if there is any interest. Will be sold at cost.

Well, I'll be the first to bite....
I think SS pistons are available from someone else already, I've seen them on e-bay and a site search here may turn up the actual supplier.

I would be interested (and rather support a real person and a fellow member then some company) but it would depend heavily on the price. Money is tight and my pistons are slightly pitted but working fine for now so if I had the money when you got them done I would probably buy some, but I couldn't commit right now not knowing the price.

John, does anybody know definitively just how many varities of pistons there are? I was under the impression that there was just two; the fronts for all the specials, and both ends for the standards/rear of the specials. The UK parts site is no help, as it doesn't even show a special front piston part number for anything but the MNS, but the front seal kits are the same for all specials, as is PartnMore's listings...

And as Psyco pointed out, the standards/rears are already available elsewhere.

I ditto what psycoreefer said. I may very well be interested, but money's real tight and I need a price before commiting. I'm would lean more towards replacing the rear piston first seeing that I have a very small leak in the rear caliper. Oh mine is a 1980 Special. Thanks Rev.

          Price

If I can't get them made for $20 plus ship I wouldn't mess with it. I am going to have some made for me and just thought I could get a bargain for other members. Vendor has a CNC lathe that needs work and I already cut a deal for mine (did a trade so money was not discussed). If there is enough interest I will have members contact him direct but I will get a fixed price for members first. He does good work.

I have too many other balls rolling.

I Ditto what Rev Rick stated. I have the 81 MNS, just rebuilt both front & back, the fronts are pitted etc. but still work. I would want 2 for the front & one for the back. I am interested but cash amt is always a factor.- Dan

The standards share brakes with the XS650. The rear caliper is the same as XS650. These pistons are readily available. It's the Special piston that is unobtanium.

I'm going with R1 calipers on the front but it would be real nice to swap out the rear with a stainless piston.

Any chance you're going to make R1 stainless caliper pistons?

For those who want/need SS rears (or fronts if you have a standard), I got mine here...http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread...+brake+pistons... he will lower the price if you buy more than one, so if John's deal washes out (or the price is too high), here's a source.

                      The

different piston sizes should not be an issue for him. Did not get the chance to talk to him today but will soon. He shouldn't have any problem beating all the prices I have seen.

I may get a face groove cut to reduce heat transfer.
