    9 Pin connector

You said the bike had a fairing on it, correct? Windjammer fairings use 6 and 9 pin connectors, depending on the year/model Windjammer. For instance, my Vetter fairing has a 9 pin that plugs into the left inside side of the fairing, the the other end has connectors that hook up with your turn signals and headlight wires fron your factory harness. Just a thought, don't know if that info will help?

I agree with papanovember. IF the bike had a fairing installed, it WOULD have a nine pin connector that had about 12" of wire. that went from the headlight area to the fairing. You can disregard that connector, and look at the other end of it. The three pin spade connector was for the headlight, and Yamaha used a short, 1.5" bit to connect it to the headlight itself. The rest of the connections should unplug and plug into the turn signals and the rest of the gauge package.

          81 harness...
          Not XSactly the same.
81's have a few extra wires and a safety relay which is not used on earlier models. (clutch and neutral switch too as well as different TCI)

While I'm sure it could be made to work, I don't really know if pin outs on all the plugs are the same or if the added wireing may be a problem.

Personally I'd just hold out for getting the right harness.

BTW, One of my Yamaha manuals (H/SH/LH version) has a section and drawing of the fairing and bags as well as the wiring diagram.

The Vetter fairing pigtail is 22 inches long with 9 pins too.

              Good source of parts.

              Hey Farty,
There's a member on here who is great to deal with and a good (reasonable) supplier of parts to our bikes. I think he listed a harness for your bike not too long ago.
His name is Andreas Weiss. Send him an email.
