What are good spare parts to try to accumulate?

I learned the hard way its a good Idea to have some extra valves.

What parts seem to be ones that go and, cannot be bought form Mikes or Partnmore ?

I have been trying to come a cross a donor engine but; no good deals close to me yet.

I'd say cables (clutch, throttle, and speedo), and the hand levers. A good pile of cap-head bolts to replace them when the heads strip. Side covers - those are always going missing for some reason. Spare bulbs are a good idea, along with any rubber parts you can come across.

A complete bike would be a good option. After 30 years pretty much everything is getting hard to get.

Things I’ve replaced on my bike with spares:

Caliper cylinder
Clutch handle
Coils
Left Side Engine Cover
Mirror
Shocks
Turn Signals
Turn Signal Rear Grommets
Mufflers
Voltage regulator

That's the oprion I chose But storing a whole bike, even if it's been broken down into parts is still a chore. But the question you need to ask is how to you want to keep your bike? All stock/restored? Or just running? If it's just 'running' with not much concern for originality, these parts would be on my 'must-have' list due to the difficulty of finding bolt-on replacements...

Exhaust, stock (HAH!) or aftermarket.
Gauges. Particularly the Tach.
Front forks, unless you don't mind tackling a fork swap.
Electrics. Particularly ignition parts except for the coils.
Fuel tank/side covers.
Brake rotors.
Set of wheels.
Cables.

Some of this is already hard to find (exhaust, tanks, side covers), and at the rate these bikes are being parted out, most of the rest will probably get hard to find in the near future. A few of these are wear items, some are parts you may need if you crash the bike. A spare motor/trans and middle/final drive wouldn't be a bad idea either. It doesn't help that many parts are year/model specific either, so this list can vary depending on what you have.

I have 2 xrtra motors, One good, one for parts.....both for sale.

I bought a spare TCI unit a while back on E-bay in case mine goes.Also got some spare electrical parts in case of failure.
