  • Blued pipe cleaner?

I did a stupid thing! I put my new Mac exhaust system on with greasy hands and didn't bother to clean the pipes before running the engine. Now my fingerprints are all over the pipes stained in blue. Has anyone tried anything that even remotely cleans them up? I don't expect to get all of it off, but I'll take as much as I can.
I've tried metal polish, but it only makes the blue shinyer. I just figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

Just did a search in google for "motorcycle chrome pipe cleaner" and came up with this stuff called Blue job chrome restorer. I looked at some magazine reviews they had there and it look like a good deal. I ordered some, I'll let you all know how it works.

        blue job

yep it works good. my pipes were blued terribly - i did 2 of 4 pipes and the two are still looking good after over 1000 miles.

            1. Bob Jones said the MAC system was louder than the Jardine. My dads G has a Kerker system that even makes newer sportbikes sound dull. I couldn't find a Kerker, but the Mac is somewhat in the ballpark.

            2. I wanted a system that went under the bike and through the center stand instead of one that went around the side. If you look and the street sleeper Bob built, I has a Jardine system that pipes around the right side. I had that kind of thing before, The Mac system looks more like it's made for the bike.

                blue stuff

i've used the blue stuff pipe cleaner on my 650kaw. it has a 4 into 1 vance and hines system. my headers were in pretty tough shape. it took a fair amount of elbow grease to make a difference. it helped but didn't last, plus the bottle was kinda pricey. thankfully my xj still has the factory 4 into 2 system with black heads and chrome slip ons. i want to replace the slip ons but have been told aftermarkets are non existent. my local cycle guru at crc 2 can get me a mac 4 into 1 for a reasonable price. what advantages are there to the 4 into 1 system? i dont plan on dorking with the carbs or removing the stock air box.
                cheers

The only two reasons for 4 into 1 that come to mind are sound, and weight.
