carb trouble... Help please.

    it could definitely be the ballast resistor. symptoms are accurate. as soon as i take my finger off the ignition it dies. Just tried locating it in the dark, but nothing seemed disconnected. Gonna try again in a bit once i can find a decent worklight... a manual would be nice about now. and my computer is taking forever to download that free one. try again after dinner...

      Yeah, sorry... It's a big file. Even with my DSL, it takes 20 minutes or so to download it.

        sure enough, as soon as i had a light on the situation (literally) i spotted the disconnected wire. connected it and fired right up. thanks again everyone for all the input. its amazing what you can accomplish with a few suggestions... and when you can actually see what you are doing. im sure this wont be my last question on here either. I did also update my profile with my location, and if anyone knows any members in the phoenix area i would definitely love to have a little hands-on assistance. obviously beers would be on me. let me know and thanks again!

          its a little far but maybe, Huh I guess I must know a little about these bikes now, when I first got my xs I was like you didnt have much knowledge about bike mech , but thru this site and some of the "good guys" I have leaarned much mor than I wanted
