where to find parts.

I just purchased a 82 XJ1100 Maxim. I'm trying to find parts suppliers especially electrical parts..mainly I think I may have a faulty cms unit. any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

There is a bunch of sites that stock various parts for these old bikes. One of the members here could be very useful. Try Andreas Weiss first with a PM. Others are "Mikesxs", "partsmore", "old bike barn", but i'd start with Andreas. IIRC he was selling off boxes of electrical stuff a while ago. Also check the buy and sell forum. Welcome, you'll find just about any kind of info you'll need on this site.

Take some time and look through all the features on this site. Most everything you are going to do has already been done by others several times over. Use the search tab for any topic you need and learn by reading about others mistakes and how the guys here helped them solve their problems

Welcome to the fold! You'll find there are several parts that swap between the XS's and the XJ, but several that don't. There are plenty of folks on this site that can verify just about any compatibility issues you might have. If oyu need a manual, you can download one from the link in my signature, and the UK forum, www.benefiscal.co.uk is a great resource for identifying parts (though it's aimed more for the XS, and less for the XJ).
