Actually, '79s had polished aluminum covers, ’80 & ’81 have chrome. They are not exactly the same. The slide spring retainer inside the cover is different size. I have put aluminum covers on ’80-’81 carbs with no ill effects. Not sure the other way round.

The covers I have are not very appealing to the eye. I don't care if they are after market I'm just looking for some thing shiny.

You won't find any after market covers, and buying a whole bank-o-carbs just for a couple of covers coule be a bit pricey. You might want to give some thought to having yours polished and re-chromed.

Take a rag and some Mother's Mag polish to the aluminum caps and they shine right up.

send me your old dull ones !!!!!!!!!(please)

I buffed mine with a bench grinder mounted buffing wheel and rouge untill they were perfect, then I took a belt sander to the tops and made them all look the same. everyone who has noticed them had something nice to say about them. The 4 covers you got are better than anything you can buy if you aren't afraid of a little work. I have both and aluminum certainly gets the nod nowadays. I bet you would have little trouble getting somebody in this bunch to take 'em off yer hands LOL
