    Current tally

Right now the order stands as follows

    78/79 - 16 Intake, 16 Exhaust

    80+ - 14 Intake, 7 Exhaust

I'm going to close ordering on Monday afternoon and submit the final numbers for this order. After that you would have to wait until next time when there are enough orders to get 8 each to meet the minimum order. I'm going to buy the 1 extra 80+ exhaust valve to meet the minimum order this time but this time only...

They were supposed to have shipped to me on Friday. I've requested a tracking number and I'm waiting for a reply now. Originally I was told 2 weeks for a custom order then after I ordered it was 14 to 21 days. I started asking questions about shipping on 18 days and told they were shipping on the 31st of April, that would be 22 days out. It seems they are pretty busy and a little behind.

It's looking like they're going to be 30 days out from order. I don't expect them in until the middle of next week...

The valves were shipped out of San Diego today and should be here in Portland by Friday if all goes well. Assuming all goes as planned, I will be shipping out the valves that are paid for and sending back the samples on Saturday (or the next business day.)

I may have a couple late model valves left over. If that's the case I'll offer them here first.

This has been more of a project than I expected and if we do it again I'll need to make a buck each on the valves to cover the headaches...

Anyway here's the pix of the 78-79 valves

And here's the pix of the 80+ XS11 and XJ1100 valves.

My first observations are the early valves don't have as much dish on the head and probably weigh a tiny bit more. The same with the later exhaust but the late intake looks to have the same amount of dish on the head and probably weighs about the same. All these valves look to have a better transitional shape and should flow well. Those of you mixing intakes may end up with a couple cylinders that flow a tiny bit better than stock.

Anyway they're all boxed up and will ship in the morning and all US orders should be there on Monday and the Canadian order will get there when Canadian customs is good and ready to send it on...

If you do it again, I'll be in for a set of the older valves.

Why dont you weigh them and let us know. I would be interested to know what the difference is. Might be only grams.

I've been following this thread and I'd be interested in a set of the early model valves, both sides when you next order. I remember when I lapped the valves on my 79 that they were dished like the 80+ ones you showed in the pics I don't know if that makes much of a difference.

Awesome Geezer, thanks for doing the work to get these together.

I've already returned the samples to their owners and the only scale I have that's accurate enough is my gunpowder scale and it doesn't go that high... It's up to those that bought valves to report the difference in weight.
