These 2 valves from you would be lot faster than any other way's I know to get them. So yes, I'd like to borrow them.

I'm going to be buying 2 full sets for the 1978 & 79 bikes and maybe 1 set for the later XS and XJ. I plan to add them to my website and sell them on eBay but I also plan to mark them up 10 bucks a pop. For those that don't want to get in on them now, you can get them from me later but they'll cost you more...

Also this doesn't have to be a one time order. We don't have to buy a sh'it load of them to place the order. The minimum order is 12 of each...

          Tony,

I have a 78, 79, and 80 engine. Have not tore into them but if you can't get the valves you need just hollar. The only 81 is mounted on the bike so even though it is the one I would need valves for I really don't want to tear it down (it is my regular ride).

Yes, he is. In theory I have a pair of both early and late valves on the way. I'll post a message when I have them in hand and ready to send them off...

I'd like to take a noncommittal poll as to how many we're looking at getting. I'm going to be ordering 8 each early and 4 each late.

Anybody else like to give me an idea as to how many they want?

BTW, anybody know if these are the same as the 750/850 triple valves? Those guys should get a chance to order too...

Well.. according to the parts list, SOME of them do? lol. It looks like the same number for the 750 as the early 1100s from 77-79 and the 850 from 78-79, but the exhaust valve on the 850 changes in 80?? Is this a typo, because it shows it back to the original number after that in 81?

The 750 wasn't made for a couple years, but in '82, it looks like the valve numbers changed.

So... SOME of those bikes will take the same valves. They'll just have to check that out. From at least 77-79 they look like they will match up to the early 1100 valves.

                  Geezer,

I'd want a full set of the 79 valves, please. (That's 8 total, I think...)

I've got the OEM CCT and do adjust it per procedure/torque. But if it ever failed and resulted in bending the valves, I'd go stir crazy waiting for the valves to arrive.

That is if they did arrive. One of my peeves is the way a company will take my order, transfer the cash into their coffers, and then tell me 6 weeks later that the item is still on back-order.

Or worse: NLA (No Longer Available)

I'll stand by and wait for your final instructions/details.

                  TIA

That I'm going to do is send the samples in with a post paid return label so they can send them back. Once they say they're ready to make them, I'll start accepting orders. Once I have all the money, I'll order the valves. I don't know how long it will take but I'd expect at least a week.

                    The tentative tally right now is;
                    early
                    12 intake
                    12 exhaust

                    Late
                    0 intake
                    0 Exhaust

Wow, great timing.. I just put the cylinders on a complete XJ1100 rebuild this morning, then pulled the valves out of the head and realized I have 4 bent valves (2 I / 2 E).

My father-in-law gave me the bike in pieces a few years ago. He took it apart more than 20 years ago because the crank broke it half.

So far the worst of the damage I found was a damaged primary chain/guide and now 4 of the valves.

I would like 2 late intake.

Are they going to have the same dish on the stem side? Most modern valves have more ground away than ours do. If that's the case then I want 4 intake.

I don't know. You can wait to the next order to get some and by then I will have more info. Right now all I know is that a highly respected high performance parts supplier is willing to make valves for us...

I now have a set of late model valves and when the early valves get here, I'll send them off. Once I get a conformation they're ready to make them, I'll start accepting orders...

                            Late, 2 of each

                            Hi Tony,

I will take two of each of the late type. Let me know when they get here.

I'm expecting the early valves in any day now then I'll send off the samples. Once they have the samples, I'll start excepting orders.

Since I'm not making anything on this, I will need cash up front for all orders.
