  • Side cover badge

Would any Xser here happen to have an extra side cover badge for a 81Standard(Venturer)? I'm wanting to put one on the rear of my Yamaha accessory tail trunk. Would like one with tabs intact and fair cond. as I can properly repaint surface.

    cheap badge

Hey Motoman, long time..anyway badges are hard to come by and since you are putting it on a fairly flat spot, maybe go to your local golf car shop and buy the Yamaha badge, nearly identical to the one you are looking for. I have a bunch and just use double sided tape and for 4.00 they are new. If no one volunteers an original I can swing one by at the Central Coast rally if you can wait that long. Either way,,,,,see you at the Rally,,,,,MIke in S.Diego

Actually the side cover badge will not have come from anything else. However, you can get reproduction stuff from here and while they are slightly smaller (has to do with the casting process) and are not cheap, they are actually less than Yamaha was charging for them when you could still get them AND they are metal, not plastic.

          The badge

I am wanting to put on the trunk is an XSeleven worded one like on the side covers. Each of the different years of XS Standards had just a bit different configuration of that logo, not much but they were different. Even the 80 to 81Standard was a bit different as far as location of outline color, etc. That kinda was the reason For the model and year specific request. Was hopin' someone would possibly have one odd emblem they didn't have use for and toss it this way instead of getting tossed around with there other accumalation of "goodies" and never being used. I know I have a small box of goodies I likely will never use and kinda watch here for anyone that may need something. Have passed on several things to members like slide in backrest etc.(Ray can attest to what happens for just showing up at me casa). Appreciate you chiming in there Mike. A super guy and look forward to seeing that XJ with the opional factory tour pack again.....what, you thought I wanted to see you...lol. Anyway, worst comes to worst, could just attach one of the gold Yammy emblems, but seeing it's went witout for 28yrs. I'll wait it out a bit for a matching one. I'll likely bring the rest of goodies to pass on too, like wingbars, buckhorns, rear luggage rack for standard, who knows what all. Likely only a couple things I'll hang onto that would put it totally original is the original number matching motor(still runs), the shade over gauges and the original Venturer1100 seat which only saw two weeks of day light (25yr.old Corbin more comfortable on long hauls) and is in the closet. Thanks, and looking forward to some Cali fun.

I believe those are the same badges. If you check the prices I think it comes out a wash as the aussie site is in their dollars which comes out to around $43, add in shipping and its probably about the same.

The product line appears to be the same, and being as Canada is closer then Australia it might be better to go with them. But in either case, they are pretty close to the price that Yamaha charged when they still had them, and are metal rather than plastic besides.

Just went out an looked at the badges on my 80 and 81. They are the same. I do a have 1 take off left as I replaced them on the 80 with ones from BadgeReplicas. Standoffs are still good.

here is a dumb question. not trying to hijack the thread, but this fits in so nicely. i pulled my badges off, and painted and now i need to put them back on. the glue used was kind of a hard foam that i took off with a utility knife and pushed the standoff's through the holes....what do i use to re-attach? went to the auto parts store and they said the only thing they have to reattach those things would be double sided tape. any other thoughts? i want to be able to get these things off again, should i decide to re-paint later down the road....

Someday I'll have badges on the side covers. But, they are supposed to attach with some little clips that go onto the posts on the back side of the cover. No glue should be involved. They may have what your looking for in the help section of the auto parts store as the same type of clips are often used for trim on cars.

They have those post clips at Lowe's and Home Depot also. They're in those drawers with the oddball stuff.
