That's basically what that "schematic" does. The color code key is listed on the right, and each of the items are around the outside. Each wire end has a color code on it that matches up with a color on the color code key. Just print it out and take a highlighter and highlight all the items that you are concerned with as you go around the outside of the circle. Then you can compare the color codes and even write out the colors if you like.
The headlight is Yellow, Dark Green and Black.
Left front Turn signal is Brown and ground.
Right front turn signal is Dark Green and ground.1980 XS850SG - Sold
1981 XS1100LH Midnight Special (Sold) - purchased 9/29/08

Gender= Unknown.
If color is what you want:
Courtesy TopCatGr58.
Click on the photo for a larger size.
If you take a look at the above diagram you can see that the headlight at the left has a black rectangle/box located to the right of it which is the symbol for a connector. There are three wires going into the connector: yellow, green, and black. That's one connector identified and more of the same process to ID the rest of the wires/connectors. Easy as 1-2-3: Find a connector in the bucket, count the wires, note the wire colors, and then hunt for that set up on the diagram
The headlamp bucket is a convenient place to put connections that run from the handlebar controls or ignition switch to the main system of the bike. Sometimes hard to know which side of the connector leads to what/where because the gender (male/female) of the connectors aren't labeled on the diagram.
I know...I know.... I agree. Wouldn't It Be Nice (WIBN) if someone had done this already with photos and labels and such?....

No idea what you are trying to accomplish.
All the plugs will match up and take care of 90% of the wires in there.
That leave BRN and GRN for the blinkers, BLK is ground, Red is N/C (Hot with key) BLU is N/C (Hot with Lights). I think that's all you get.
N/C = No Connect, unless you are using it for something non stock; in which case I have no idea where they go. I use the BLU for the running lights when I have the fairing mounted.Last edited by oseaghdha; 02-19-2010, 06:15 AM.
